This book recounts the parent–child education experiences of a Chinese mother living in the United States. Guided by the principles of American character-based and virtue-oriented education, the author combines theory with firsthand practice to share 12 little secrets of American-style parenting. She explains in detail how to cultivate “sunny children” who excel both academically and in character.
The book addresses many topics currently of great concern to Chinese parents, such as developing children’s resilience, social skills, and creativity. Its educational concepts and methods offer valuable insights for families in China.
About the Author
Dr Rebecca R. Gao was a Portfolio Manager and a Director at BNY Mellon Asset Management in New York. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has earned both a CFA and a CFP® professional designations.
Dr. Gao integrates the strengths of both Chinese and American cultures and has long been dedicated to researching and practicing internationally advanced educational philosophies.
She is also the Chinese translator of the bestselling American parenting book How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk, published by China CITIC Press.
